Repeat Prescriptions Policy

Halswellhealth offers a “repeat prescription” service to their enrolled patients whose medical conditions are stable and unlikely to cause complications or side effects. The request will first be checked by your doctor, because he or she is concerned about your safety. The doctors may wish to see some patients' rather than issuing a prescription for conditions requiring close monitoring such as depression or heart conditions.

 All patients will need to be seen at least twice a year. The only exception is for contraception for patients over 21years, where it may be possible to provide a repeat prescription for 6 months.

 48 Hours notice is required for processing. Repeat prescriptions fee is:

• $13.00 to collect from Halswellhealth.
• $15.00 if you wish it to be faxed (then posted) to your pharmacy.

 To request a repeat prescription you may: 

• Order from our website www.halswellhealth.co.nz
• E-mail us with all details to nurse@halswellmc.pegasus.net.nz
• Fax us.  Send your faxed request with all details to 322 8014.
• Phone us and ask to speak to the nurse.

 Urgent prescriptions requested for the same day is a special service and:

• Will incur an urgent fee of $21.00
• Will be faxed to the pharmacy of choice not collected.
• Will be faxed by 2pm if requested in the morning / 5pm if in the afternoon.

 When requesting your prescription please clearly state:

• The name(s) of the medicine(s)
• The strength (size of pills)
• The dosage (how many times a day you take it)
• The period of time you would like your prescription for (3 months is the maximum for most medicines, but some have a maximum of 1 month).
• The name, fax number and address of the pharmacy (if to be faxed)
